Investigating associations between sociodemographic and dietary factors and exposure to mycotoxins in Canadian children
This Biobank project is investigating associations between sociodemographic and dietary factors and exposure to natural mycotoxins. These toxins are produced by fungi in crops and can enter the food supply, causing disease in humans. While previous investigations have focused on amounts found in food, this study is measuring mycotoxins found in urine samples from MIREC children aged 7-9, providing novel research on direct exposure to mycotoxins in Canadian children.
